Nick Carter to release memoir
The Backstreet Boys singer is scheduling the release of his memoir, “Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It,” on September 24th. Nick Carter is the first in the musical group to release a book.
The book is an autobiography as well as a self-help book, which includes stories about Carter’s teenaged years in the multiplatinum Backstreet Boys. The book also outlines Carter’s struggles with substance and alcohol abuse and his hardships with his family.

Amanda Bynes arrested on marijuana charge
According to police, actress Amanda Bynes was arrested in midtown Manhattan after she threw a marijuana bong out of a window. The incident happened at an apartment building around 7:40 p.m. on Thursday.
A building official called police and reported that Bynes was smoking marijuana and rolling a joint in the building’s lobby. Police proceeded to Bynes’s apartment, where they found heavy smoke and a bong. Bynes threw the bong out of the window in front of the officers.

Ex-teacher to appear in federal court for child pornography
A former elementary school teacher is due in federal court on a child pornography charge. Eric Toth, who was on the FBI’s list of most wanted fugitives, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon in Washington.
Toth was arrested in Nicaragua last month after being on the run for five years. The FBI added him to the “Ten Most Wanted” list in order to draw attention to his case.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for a murder that police believe involved the use of a hatchet. Montgomery County police say they responded to a call at midnight reporting a burglary in a home near Cliff Pine Dr.
Claude Allen, the man who placed the phone call, claimed to have killed a man who attempted to break into his home.

Woman gets probation for stalking actress
A New York City woman has been sentenced to probation for stalking actress Marion Cotillard on the Internet.
Teresa Yuan was sentenced on Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court. She pled guilty in the fall. According to prosecutors, Yuan sent over 504 email and 120 webcam videos of herself to the actress‘s website in 2011.

Jennifer Lopez to open cell phone stores
On Wednesday, the singer actress announced she will be opening a chain of 15 cell phone stores and a website under the Viva Movil brand. Her goal is to sell phones and services to Latinos.

Robber uses stun gun on victim
D.C. police are currently looking for a robber who shocked a victim using a stun gun in Georgetown on Tuesday.
According to authorities, the robber snuck up behind his victim near the 1500 block of 34th street northwest and used the stun gun to immobilize the victim before stealing their cell phone, wallet and change.
The victim’s injuries are said to not be life-threatening.
First lady’s ancestors honored in ceremony
Wednesday marked the 150th anniversary of the Union’s first black regiment. In honor of those who have served, a wreath was placed by two men’s names on the American Civil War Memorial on U Street who are believed to be ancestors of First lady Michelle Obama.

Swim coach to be sentenced for sex abuse
A Virginia native, and one of the nation’s most prominent swim coaches, is scheduled to be sentenced for the sexual abuse of a girl he was instructing.
Richard Curl, who pled guilty to charges in February, is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court.

IRS Employees Knew About Controversy
Former IRS head, Douglas Shulman admitted on Tuesday that he did partially know about the IRS targeting of conservative groups and that he followed the right course of action to end it. He emphasized that he didn’t know the full extent of the problem because no employees brought the full story to his attention. Shulman was one of the three witnesses who appeared under oath at the Senate Finance Committee at the second congressional hearing about the controversy.

San Francisco Bay Area Holding 50th Super Bowl
The NFL’s 50th Super Bowl will be held in the Santa Clara.
