EBay says it is monitoring its auction selections so that people are not able to personally profit from items sold from the Boston Marathon. Runners’ medals are currently for sale on the site, and all proceeds collected must go directly to charity.
Jonathan Resnick, an accountant in southern California, purchased a medal for sale on Ebay. His winning bid will be donated to The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts through Ebay’s program of charitable giving.

Thirty-two-year-old Adam Scott has become the first Australian to win the Masters. He defeated Angel Cabrera in a sudden death playoff on Sunday. This is the first major title win Scott has received after giving up his lead in the British Open last year.

Gabby Douglas, the teenager who claimed the gold in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition, has been voted the Associated Press’ female athlete of the year. The Washington Redskins won a narrow 7-6 overtime victory against the Baltimore Ravens this week. In the process however, quarterback Robert Griffin III limped off the field with a knee injury he sustained during the game. World class biker Lance Armstrong, who’s career had for so long been a shining example to athletes worldwide, has been banned from competition after declining to contest doping charges. Five of his former teammates, Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie, Tom Danielson, Christian Vande Velde and David Zabriskie all received a six month suspension. The replacement officials will be replaced Thursday in time for the Ravens and Browns game on Thursday night football. The NFLRA and the NFL owners’ reached an agreement late Wednesday night that included compromises on both sides, including a pension plan for current referees and an increased salary.
