Secret Service to raise the White House fence to 11 feet

After a string of fence jumpers at the White House within recent years, the Secret Service has new plans to raise the height of the fence surrounding the White House.  The plan is to raise the fence from 6 feet to 11 feet.  Secret Service spokesperson Tom Dougherty said, “The current fence simply is not adequate for a modern era.  It is entirely scale-able, depending upon the circumstances, and we have now a society that tends to want to jump over the fence.”

Dennis Hastert, who was once Speak of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday was sentenced to 15 months in prison for misleading FBI officials and arranging hush money payments so that federal investigators could not determine where the money was going.  Hastert confessed on Wednesday to sexually abusing child victims while working as a wrestling coach in Illinois.  He was also ordered to pay the balance owed to one of his victims.  The amount was promised by Hastert in an effort to keep his victim from going public about the sexual assault.

Ted Cruz names Carly Fiorina as VP running mate; Trump sued over Trump University

On Wednesday, Ted Cruz announced that Carly Fiorina will be his vice-president should he win the GOP nomination.  In previous months, Fiorina had referred to Cruz as flip-flopper.  During her campaign for the presidential campaign Fiorina said, “Ted Cruz is just like any other politician; he says whatever he needs to say to get elected.”  Donald Trump weighed in with a statement that this is “a desperate attempt to save a failing campaign by an all talk, no action politician.”  On Tuesday, a New York judge ruled that the lawsuit against Trump and his Trump University can proceed with the possibility of Trump taking the stand as a witness.
