Authorities in the nation’s capital said computer equipment was stolen from a southeast library branch in Washington, D.C., shortly after the facility’s opening. Police in D.C. said the robbers took six 19-inch computer monitors from the Francis A. Gregory Neighborhood Library on Alabama Avenue on Tuesday, June 26.
Surveillance videos show five people sporting hoods or masks, prowling around outside the building, and then breaking in through a glass panel in the rear. Arrests have not been made. The library, which opened a week before the robbery, was applauded as a welcome addition to an area of the city where the unemployment rate is high and resources are scarce.
