Legendary singer-songwriter, actress and filmmaker Barbra Streisand is set to publish her long-awaited, highly anticipated memoir. Streisand has struck a deal with Viking to pen her life story, the publisher announced Wednesday. The book is currently untitled and scheduled to be released in 2017. According to Viking, Streisand will reflect back on on her childhood, career and on the private life she has carefully guarded. Streisand, 73, has been contemplating a memoir since 2009 when she announced to The Associated Press that she had been scribbling down thoughts and pondering as to whether or not she wanted to “relive” her life. The subject of countless unauthorized books, she committed herself more strongly in recent years, stating that she was determined to clear up various myths. During a career spanning an astonishing six decades, she has become an icon in multiple fields of entertainment, earning numerous awards including: two Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, five Emmy Awards (including one Daytime Emmy), a Special Tony Award, an American Film Institute award, a Kennedy Center Honors prize, a Peabody Award and eleven Golden Globes. She is among a select group of entertainers who have been honored with all of the major industry prizes. Streisand is considered to be one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than seventy-two million albums in the United States and with a total of one hundred and forty-five million records sold worldwide.
