Green Day cancels remaining 2012 tour dates

Green Day has cancelled its remaining North American tour dates and is working on rescheduling its January and February 2013 performances. Green Day has taken this dramatic move in consideration of their band mate Billie Joe Armstrong who is continuing treatment for substance abuse. The cancellation is a major disruption of the band’s plan to release a trilogy of albums “Obviously, the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” said bassist Mike Dirnt. “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.” Tickets for cancelled dates will be refunded and Green Day has decided to release its next album, “¡Tré!,” earlier than previously planned.
