Jon Stewart running boot camp program for war vets

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart has been secretly running a boot camp intended to help war veterans break into the entertainment industry. Stewart has been keeping his involvement with the program under wraps for the past three years. The reason for publicizing it now is because he would like other television shows to host similar training programs. The comedian added that he is well aware of the unique challenges facing veterans who want to have careers in the television industry without prior connections. In recent years, the unemployment rate for recent veterans has been at an all-time high, especially for those who served after the September 11 tragedy. The boot camp consists of a five-week “immersion” program that ends with a career fair. At least one graduate of the program has wound up working at “The Daily Show,” where Stewart will end his career as a host on August 6. His replacement, South African comedian, television/radio host, and actor Trevor Noah was announced back in March.
