The CINE Golden Eagle Awards has just announced its winners for 2015. One of the nation’s oldest film industry awards, CINE honors originality and storytelling in media across genres and distribution platforms. Founded in 1957, CINE presents two types of awards: competitive and honorary. Competitive awards include the Golden Eagle Award, Special Jury Award, Masters Series, and Award of Excellence. Honorary awards include the Leadership Award, Trailblazer Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Legends Award. “A Most Violent Year,” starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, won the prize for best live-action feature, beating out finalists “Big Eyes,” “The Imitation Game” and “St. Vincent.” TV winners include NBC’s “Hannibal” for fiction content and CNN’s “Morgan Spurlock: Inside Man” for non-fiction content. The D.C.-based organization launched the careers of many famous filmmakers including: Mel Brooks “The Critic,” (1963) Steven Spielberg “Amblin,” (1969) Ron Howard “Deed of Daring Do,” (1972) and Ken Burns “Brooklyn Bridge” (1981). The Professional Media winners were just announced recently, while the Independent and Student Media winners will be publicized sometime this summer. The organization will then celebrate the winners with networking parties in New York, D.C. and Los Angeles in October.
