An apparent accident at a family’s swimming pool is the cause of a 2-year-old boy’s death, says Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to a home on Distant View Avenue in Maugansville on Saturday afternoon after a boy was found by his family unresponsive atop a winter cover over the pool, which had a small amount of standing water on it. The family performed CPR on the boy until an ambulance arrived and the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital in Washington where he died Sunday.
