Anne Arundel parents have pushed the county’s school board to consider later start times for public schools. Many parents feel that their exhausted children would benefit from more sleep in the mornings, as early schedules, extra curricular activities, homework and chores take up much of the suggested sleep time for teenagers. A task force presented the school board with different plans Wednesday, to arrange buses for the public and non-public special education routes needed to carry students to school. The plans would cost between $600,000 and $9.6 million. The task force recommendations are not binding, and the Board of Education has yet to make a decision.
