Charles County Circuit Judge Robert C. Nalley has been removed from the bench by the Maryland Court of Appeals. This comes after information came to light of an incident in which Nalley instructed a defendant be given an electric shock in order to silence him in the court room. Nalley became a judge in 2002 and officially retired in 2010, but was allowed to continue hearing cases. Nalley was suspended from the bench for five days in 2010 for deflating the tires on a car parked in his spot at the courthouse. The decision means Nalley must now stop hearing cases permanently.
