Thousands of people dove into the cold Chesapeake Bay yesterday for the 20th annual Polar Bear Plunge. The plunge sought to raise money for the Special Olympics. Most participants raised around $75 for their winter swim, but some “super plungers” raised thousands of dollars and dove into the icy water dozens of times. According to the Polar Bear Plunge’s website, so far this year’s event has raised $1.5 million.
