Olympic medalist Michael Phelps was arrested and charged with a DUI early Tuesday morning in Maryland, reports say. Phelps was allegedly driving at 84 mph in the 45 mph zone of the Fort McHenry Tunnel on Interstate 95 around 1:40 a.m. Police also said Phelps was crossing double lane lines in the tunnel. An officer operating stationary radar followed the vehicle out of the tunnel, and reported that Phelps was identified by his driver’s license and was cooperative. Phelps was allegedly intoxicated and unable to satisfactorily perform standard sobriety tests. Phelps was previously charged with a DUI in 2004, when the athlete was 19. At that time, Maryland state troopers pulled him over after he failed to stop at a stop sign.
