Larry Johnson, 40, faces sentencing in Oakland for his violent escape from a crew working along Interstate 68 in 2012. Johnson faces life plus 70 years added Tuesday to the 20 years he’s previously been serving for carjacking and handgun convictions in Prince George’s County. In October, Johnson was convicted of attempting first-degree murder, carjacking, and escape for the incident in Garrett County. He stabbed a correctional officer in the torso with a pair of pointed pliers and then stole and wrecked a prison can before flagging down a motorist from West Virginia. Johnson stabbed the driver in the head, stole his car and drove approximately 20 miles down Route 495 before hitting a tree in a residential development near Deep Creek Lake.
