WASHINGTON, D.C. – Bowser wants a new vote on statehood in November

0

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has officially requested for Congress to give District residents the opportunity to vote on whether the nation’s capitol should become a state. The district has around 672,000 residents who pay federal taxes and serve in the military, but lack voting representation in Congress.   Congressional Republicans have historically had no interest in recognizing the District as a state, and they currently have majority power in both houses of Congress.
