A Waseca, Minnesota, teen has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempted criminal damage, and six accounts of possession of a explosive or incendiary device in Juvenile Court on Thursday. The 17-year-old was taken into custody for questioning by police on Tuesday. Police were tipped off by Chelsie Shallhas, a local resident that was concerned about the teen’s activity inside of a local self-storage unit. When police arrived, they at the storage facility, they found items including a pressure cooker, pyrotechnic chemicals, gunpowder and steel ball bearings. The police report revealed that the young man admitted to planning an attack that consisted of murdering his mother, father and sister, starting a fire nearby to divert first responders, and then heading to Waseca Junior and Senior High School, equipped with bombs and guns he intended to use to kill “as many students as he could.” He is currently being held in Red Wing Juvenile Detention Center, in Minnesota.
