Brandeis University president to resign, accepts job at Yale

Brandeis University President Frederick Lawrence announced on Friday that he will be resigning at the end of the 2015 school year to accept a position on Yale’s teaching staff. He said that he looked forward to returning to full-time teaching and working as a senior research scholar at Yale Law School. Lawrence has been serving as president of Brandeis since January 2011. Provost Lisa Lynch will be interim president while the school searches for a successor to Lawrence. Brandeis is known as as a private research and liberal arts school, as well as the only nonsectarian, Jewish-sponsored university in the country. The university is only 9 miles west of Boston, and currently has about 3,600 undergraduate students.
