General faces possible court marshal
General Jeffery A. Sinclair faces a possible court martial for multiple sexual offenses, including sodomy and inappropriate sexual relations with female subordinates. Sinclair has served in five tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He is also charged with possessing pornography and alcohol while being deployed on active duty. He was sent home in May because of the charges against him. He has become a special assistant to a commanding general. Despite the charges, no arrests have been made at this time.
He arrived in Afghanistan for another tour of duty in September 2011. Sinclair has been in the army for over 25 years, spanning all the way to the Gulf War, where he was a paratrooper. Almost no generals face court martials, as it has happened only a handful of times in recent history. Two generals in the past couple of years have been charged with conduct unbecoming of an officer. One was charged with two months of jail time, while the other was fined 10,000 and forced to retire at a lower rank.
