The nurse who was held in New Jersey quarantine plans to defy the request from health officials that she remain in her home for 21 days. Kaci Hickox returned from Sierra Leone last Friday, at which point she was placed in quarantine despite testing negative for Ebola. The Washington Post reports that by the following Sunday, Hickox had taken her claims of the illegality of the quarantine to Governor Chris Christie. She also complained about being kept in an unheated tent. Hickox was released Monday to her home state of Maine, under the condition of self-quarantine even though she continues to report a lack of symptoms. Hickox and her lawyer, New York civil rights attorney Norman Siegal, call this command unconstitutional and illegal.
