A high school student near Seattle opened fire Friday inside the school’s cafeteria, killing one student at the scene and injuring others before being killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shooter has been identified as Jaylen Fryberg, 15, a freshman at the Marysville-Pichuck High School in Marysville, Wash. The student killed at the scene was identified as Zoe Galasso. Another, Gia Soriano, 14, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital Sunday morning, announced her family. Three other students remain hospitalized, including Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, and the shooter’s cousins Andrew Fryberg, 15, and Nate Hatch, 14. A student on the scene reported that Fryberg entered the cafeteria, walked up to a table of his friends, and fired multiple shots into the back of those sitting there. Students were evacuated immediately to a nearby church as the campus was secured. Megan Silberberger, a first-year social studies teacher, reportedly confronted the shooter in an attempt subdue him. It was in this struggle, as she tried to take the handgun from him, that Fryberg misfired and shot himself in the neck.
