A small plane has crashed along a Venice beach on Sunday, killing a father and leaving a nine-year-old girl critically injured. Wendy Rose, a spokeswoman for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, said the pilot and his only passenger weren’t hurt after the aircraft lost power. The father and daughter had been visiting from Georgia when the plane decided to make its unexpected landing. The girl was airlifted to a children’s hospital where she was in critical condition, but details of her injuries weren’t immediately released. Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration stated the agency was investigating the crash.
