SUV crash kills two-year-old boy in Florida

A 24-year-old Florida woman faces a DUI manslaughter charge after she crashed her SUV in northern Manatee County. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2-year-old boy was killed and the driver and ten other passengers (including two adults and eight other children) were injured. The incident happened on Saturday at around 4:55 p.m. Shameka L. Jones of Winter Haven was driving north on I-75 north of Parrish, when she drove onto the shoulder, went airborne, overturned several time and struck several trees. Two-year-old Isaac Solomon was taken to South Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Jones and the other two adults (a 25-year-old woman and a 44-year-old woman) were taken to the Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The victims were listed as being in critical condition. The other children were treated for minor injuries at hospitals in either St. Petersburg or Tampa. Jones faces charges of DUI manslaughter, nine counts of DUI with injuries, and one count of DUI with serious injury. All of the victims listed above are residents of Winter Haven.
