Politics – Libertarians select presidential ticket

0

Libertarians selected a presidential ticket on Sunday, with former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson as their presidential nominee. Johnson will be running with former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, his preferred running mate. Libertarians contend their party could play a larger role in the 2016 election, with large portions of the electorate viewing both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton unfavorably. At the party convention in Orlando, Florida, Johnson said Trump’s immigration policies were “just racist.” Since the Libertarian Party is the only third party on the ballot in all 50 states, Johnson will be the only available alternative to Trump and Clinton. “At a minimum, I think we’re in the presidential debates,” Johnson said.
