September huge fundraising month for Obama campaign

The Barack Obama 2012 presidential re-election campaign raised $181 million last month. Campaign manager Jim Messina called it “…by far our biggest month yet” in an email to supporters. While this was a record for the 2012 Obama campaign, it falls short of the $193 million raised in September of his 2008 campaign. No numbers are currently available regarding the Romney campaign’s fundraising in September, but the month prior Obama barely outraised his Republican rival, raising $114 million while the Romney campaign raised $111 million.
