Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens has been cut from the team in light of a video surfacing of Rice physically assaulting his then-fiancée in February.
The video, released by TMZ is a grainy, low quality version of the official police copy leaked to the Associated Press by a law-enforcement official Monday. The Ravens administration said Monday afternoon that this was the first they knew of the video, and that in response to it Rice’s $4 million contract was terminated. Back in February, Rice was charged with felony aggravated assault, and in May was accepted into a pre-trial intervention program that could drop jail time and lead to the charge being purged from his record. He has been suspended indefinitely from the NFL.
