The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday to implement an ordinance which requires any employee or agent of the county to be held accountable for the misuse of public assets in excess of $1,000 per 12-month period. Prior to this decision, only full-time employees could face the relevant misdemeanour charge for this action. The sole dissenter to the vote was Eugene A. Delgaudio (R-Sterling), who was involved in 2012 in an investigation into his term in political office, but who was never indicted. His objection was based mainly on the cost to the county of the potential trial of county employees. Under the ordinance, a guilty person could be fined up to $2,500 or imprisonment for no more than one year.
