Secret Service Director Julia Pierson has resigned her position after 30 years of service. Pierson, the first female director of the Secret Service, held the position for 18 months, beginning last March. Her resignation has been accepted by President Obama, who commended her service. Pierson began her career in law enforcement in Orlando before moving to the Secret Service there in 1984. Calls for the removal of Pierson reached a fever pitch Tuesday during and after her testimony before the House Oversight Committee regarding security breaches in recent months.
