D.C. police officer injured after axe attack

A D.C. police officer was the target of an axe attack early Friday morning. The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine. The incident occurred in the 3800 block of 13th Street in Northeast near the Catholic University campus at around 3 a.m., reports WTOP. The officer was attacked in a police cruiser in full uniform when the assailant swung an axe into the driver’s side window. He was injured in the ensuing struggle, but was unable to catch the attacker. A description of the attacker has not yet been released.
