D.C. Police receive advanced emergency care training, kits

District police officers have begun more advanced emergency care training and are being equipped with emergency kits so that they may more quickly administer necessary medical attention. The kits include tourniquets and other first aid materials, and more than 300 of them have been distributed already. The advanced Tactical Emergency Casualty Care training has been given to more than 2,000 officers. The kits and training are intended to help in those situations where police officers are the first on the scene of an emergency, so that they can provided immediate medical care, according to D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier.
