The Washington Monument will be closed all of Thursday while repairs are made to the elevators. The National Park Service originally announced that the repairs would take about an hour, but later revised the estimate. The monument has been plagued by elevator issues since the rehabilitation after the 2011 earthquake and this past year. The NPS says that there is no single source of the issues, and will continue repairs. All tickets will be honored at a later date.
