The Kennedy Center and the Aspen Institute are planning to host an arts summit for artists, innovators and policy leaders. One of the issues they will discuss is how the arts can address issues in society. The event will be held May 16 at the Kennedy Center. Renowend cellist Yo-Yo Ma will lead a program on the role of the citizen artist in America. Speakers at the summit will include: Aspen Institute President Walter Isaacson, filmmaker Spike Lee, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, dancer Damian Woetzel, actress Alfre Woodard and attorney Theodore Olson, who is currently arguing a major gay marriage case before the Supreme Court. The summit will be available for live streaming on the Kennedy Center’s official website.
