Local health clinics are to receive large booster grants in Affordable Care Act funds to increase access to primary care at local centers. More than $295 million will be distributed. 25 health centers in Virginia will receive portions of $5,686,710, averaging around $230,000 each. In Maryland, 14 centers will average $250,000 from the $3,495,790 grant and in D.C., seven centers will receive the same average amount from $1,765,052. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services press office reports the intention of these grants is to create an estimated 4,750 jobs nationwide and help the newly-insured access care.
