Masked robbers terrorize D.C. pharmacies

0

A group of masked robbers have been storming into D.C. pharmacies terrorizing employees and customers alike. Three pharmacies so far have been robbed: Flexcare and Grubb’s in Southeast D.C., and Morton’s on Capitol Hill. The three men held people at gunpoint, then took cash and prescription painkiller drugs. Flexcare was robbed on January 3, Grub’s on January 17, and Morton’s on January 23. There has been a recent spike in robberies at pharmacies according to the police. Barbara Carreno, a spokeswoman for the Drug Enforcement Administration, stated that painkillers are harder to come by nowadays due to DEA crackdown on rogue clinics and shady online pharmacies. In turn, that has increased the street value of prescription drugs and makes them even more appealing targets for criminals.
