Vanessa Hudgens to play ‘Gigi’ at Kennedy Center in D.C.

Vanessa Hudgens will play the lead in the musical revival  of “Gigi” at the Kennedy Center. Previews began on Friday, January 16. The show will be opening on Thursday and run through February 12. The setting of “Gigi” takes place in Paris at the turn of the last century. It was written by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, the same composer and lyricist as “My Fair Lady.” The story is about a teenage girl being groomed to serve as a courtesan to a bored, wealthy playboy named Gaston. They later fall in love and get married. Hudgens is best known for her roles in Disney’s “High School Musical” movies, “Bandslam,” “Beastly,” and “Gimme Shelter.” She’ll be joined by: Tony Award-winning actress Victoria Clark, Dee Hoty, Corey Cott, from “Newsies” and Howard McGillin, from “The Phantom of the Opera.”
