WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mayor rejects D.C. Council’s paid leave proposal

0

District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser has said Washington’s council proposal for an up to 12-week paid leave measure is too broad for her support. Bowser has stated that as a Democrat, she supports paid leave for new parents. However, the measure proposed by the District of Columbia council also offers paid leave to those with medical conditions, or those who need to care for a sick relative. Muriel Bowser has stated the bill would provide paid leave for, “almost an unlimited number of occurrences.”
