According to the Washington Post, District of Columbia activist Denise Rucker Krepp is suing the Department of Justice to get information on arrests, prosecutions, plea deals and conviction rates for the city each year. Federal authorities previously denied Krepp’s Freedom of Information Act request, and told her that Washington prosecutors do “not track this information” and have “no means of searching for or retrieving” it, the Post reports. When Krepp appealed, prosecutors said they would try to get the information she requested but not in the format she sought.
