Washington, DC – Pentagon employee charged with stealing license plates

0

Bryan Whitman, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs at the Pentagon, is accused of stealing license plates off a vehicle of a neighbor’s nanny three times during the one month. The nanny’s vehicle had Virginia license plates, and on April 4 a note was found on the car saying the driver was “misusing the visitor pass to park (there) daily.” On April 6, both license plates were stolen from the vehicle. When the plates were replaced, they were stolen again on April 8. The nanny then brought a different vehicle to work and the rear plate was stolen April 21. The nanny’s employer set up security cameras and the police were able to identify Whitman as the culprit. Whitman was charged with three counts of second-degree theft; although his case will be dismissed if he pays the neighbor and her nanny $1,000 restitution, completes 32 hours of community service, stays away from both women and doesn’t break the law during the next 10 months.
