Syrian free army takes control of military base
Syrian rebels have succeeded in taking al-Tanneh air defense base near the city of Aleppo. This is a significant achievement for the Free Army since Aleppo has been an epicenter of conflict between the rebels and government forces for months. Also there is evidence that the base is one piece of a larger network of weapons and personnel movement supporting Syrian government forces. Videos taken by the Free Army have shown rebels surveying rows of missles inside the base. Although a spokesman for the Revolutionary Council in Aleppo stated that during the rebels’ efforts to take the base government forces launched an aerial assault in an effort to destoy the missles and radars inside, in which they mostly succeeded. During the battle, according to state media, government forces destroyed 14 rebel trucks within Aleppo itself.
