The District Department of Transportation plans to reopen the 16th Street bridge at Military Road on July 1, two weeks earlier than originally planned. The rebuilding project began last fall, leaving only one lane open in each direction. The road delays were not as severe as expected during construction due to commuters taking alternate routes. Beginning on Friday night, 16th Street will be totally closed for 24 hours.
