The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved plans for a new middle school in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area. The school, currently called “Bethesda-Chevy Chase Middle School #2”, is planned to be constructed at Rock Creek Hills Local Park in Kensington. It is being built because of overcrowding problems. A number of critics have pointed to the site’s small size, but the Board decided to approve the project anyway because of the overcrowding. People have also expressed concerns about the environmental impact the school will have on the area. The school is set to open in 2017.
