The District has completed a permanent memorial honoring the nine passengers who died during a Red Line crash in 2009. Called Legacy Memorial Park, the sculpture includes stone pillars with a victim’s name engraved on each one, as well as a remembrance wall. On the sixth anniversary of the accident, family members of the victims gathered to honor their lost loved ones at the new site. The memorial is on the corner of New Hampshire Ave. NE and North Dakota Ave. NE, near the area where the collision occurred.
