Ex-policeman to perform in blackface as fundraiser for 6 indicted officers

Bobby Berger, a former Baltimore police officer, announced Wednesday that he will perform an Al Jolson routine in blackface as a fundraiser for the 6 officers indicted in the Freddie Gray case. Berger has sold 610 $45 dollar tickets for the November 1 event. The attorney representing the six indicted officers said that they do not support this fundraiser and will not accept money from it. Berger, 67, has been doing his blackface routine amid controversy in the police department since the 1980s.
