Former firefighter pleads guilty to arson

28-year-old Nicholas Hannigan, a former Baltimore County volunteer firefighter, pleaded guilty last week to one count of first-degree arson. Hannigan had previously fought the 2007 fire at an unoccupied home that he confessed to setting and was hospitalized. Hannigan has been given a 10-year sentence, a $5,000 fine, and five years of supervised probation for causing $130,000 in damage for his actions.
