Greece votes against Europe’s bailout offer

0

In their vote on Sunday, over 60% of the citizens of Greece voted against Europe’s bailout offer, following the lead of their Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras. Europe and the International Monetary Fund have saved Greece from financial destruction twice since 2010, costing them 240 billion euros ($264 billion). Some European leaders have said that they would no longer negotiate with Greece if the country rejected their bailout offer, which would force citizens to take cuts on wages and pensions. If the IMF will not give the country the money they need with fewer restrictions, Greece might have to abandon the Euro and create their own currency, which would lead to further economic problems.
