Judge rules prosecutors can show Severance’s writings

On Thursday, a judge ruled that prosecutors can show jurors the writings of Charles Severance, who is on trial for the murders of three Alexandria residents. In his writings, a disgruntled Severance advocated for violence and class warfare. The defense for Severance asked the judge to ban these writings from the trial, saying that they would unfairly bias the jury against him. The judge ruled with the prosecution, which argued that the writings relate to Severance’s crimes.
