Many Metro riders are avoiding the Silver Line

The ridership of the Silver Line is 30% below the projections made a year ago, when the first phase of the Silver Line was completed. The predicted average number of riders per day was 50,000, yet according to the most recent statistics the average weekday ridership is only around 35,000. The ridership of the Tysons Corner and McLean stations is below projections, whereas the end-of-the-line Reston station’s ridership is above projections.  Metro officials and supporters indicate that their hope is in new construction efforts that will likey result in more riders.
