Obama’s Iran nuclear deal safe from veto

On Wednesday, Sen. Barbara Mikulski announced her support for the Iran nuclear deal, sustaining the 34 votes the Obama administration needs to veto the Republicans’ opposition bill. Nearly all of the Republicans in the GOP-controlled House and Senate expressed disapproval for the agreement, saying that it would allow Iran to develop hostile nuclear weapons and would weaken international standards created to assure Iran’s cooperation; however, only two Democratic senators — Chuck Schumer of New York and Bob Menendez of New Jersey — have announced their disapproval.
