NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed on Tuesday a second incursion of Russian combat aircraft in Turkish airspace and the grounding of Russian troops in Syria. Stoltenberg elaborated on the former, saying that intelligence received gives evidence that the presence of the planes may have not been an accident. Addressing the grounding of troops, Stoltenberg also expressed concern over their role in fighting against ISIL. “I’m also concerned that Russia is not targeting ISIL but instead attacking the Syrian opposition and civilians,” he said.
