Shanahan Children’s Clinic for uninsured children closing

Shanahan Children’s Clinic, a nonprofit Annapolis clinic serving children without health insurance, is scheduled to close on September 29th. 75-year-old nurse practitioner Sandra Shanahan reports that she will be closing the clinic she founded in 2005, because she has become too old to run it. The clinic, which offers — among others — physical examinations and lab tests, has seen about 2,250 patients, almost 94 percent of whom were Hispanic. Shanahan also states that she has been unable to find someone to take over the clinic.
