24-year-old Robert Ryan McDonnell was found guilty on Friday of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a sobriety test in the Sandbridge section of Virginia Beach in December of 2014. McDonnell is the son of former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. The younger McDonnell was fined $250 and has his license suspended for one year. That is a common sentence for a first-time DUI offender with no prior record, spokeswoman for the Virginia Beach commonwealth’s attorney Macie Pridgen Allen said.
